-->Indumba<-- West-Afrikaanse percussie

De trommels geven
de bewegingen
van het leven aan.

Trommels spelen
de ritmes
van het zaaien,

van
het oogsten,
van de regen,
de ritmes van de geboortefeesten.

Trommels roffelen
de ritmes
van de gebeden,
soms ook van de dood.

Abakoula Argalaless

My name is Abakoula Argalaless, born in Tahoua, Niger.
I played the drums already when I was a little boy, but only when my father was absent, because he did not like music.
My father wanted me to be an Imam in the future.
I inherated the music from my mother, she was a famous singer, also my two sisters are singers.

In 1984 I won together with my cousin de first price of best Toeareg dans (Tighemst) in Tahoua.

In 1994 I played with a few Ghanese men in the groupe Jamo Jamo.
This was till end of 1995, after that,  I founded Zamounta, a groupe of only dutch people.
1996 founded Afrodisiac, which I left in 2000.
WAKA I established in 2000 up till now still exists, with several nationalities, has its own music with pure West-African percussion with a touch of Toearegmusic.

Since my stay in Holland I try to give the people some of the culture of the Toeareg.
I give thee-ceremony and workshop dans-and percussion in small groupes in schools and in Theme-parcs like Mondo Verde in Landgraaf, Holland.
